David has received the Christmas Certificates and Ornament!!

Hey guys, Serena here, well after a lot of labor I was able to personally give David both certificates from the pay it forward Christmas Project and the ornament, by some grace of God some amazing people made it happen for me in Houston and I will forever be thankful. Here is a recap of what happened! Thank you again to everyone who helped support this project..FYI isn’t cool to think that David will be hanging the same ornament on his tree as we have…awwwwwww!!!
FROM HOUSTON MEET AND GREET!!

It was very rushed and I knew I would only have seconds with him, I had everything out of the gift bag and was ready to speed talk, lol. When it came my turn, Robin from Fod was my buddy for the David pic, I approached him and he said, “Hey how are you doing,” I just love that he recognizes us….WOW! I said great now listen lol, I told him really quickly what the pay it forward project was and I was showing him the certificates, he took each one, looked at them and said something like “oh wow, awwwwww, that’s really cool.” He laughed when he saw the donor certificate that had a picture of him in a Santa hat. When I told him how much we donated he just sort of stopped for a minute and looked at me and said, “Oh wow, really,” I don’t know, security was starting to get inpatient with me but I still had more so I handed him the ornament and started to tell him that I designed it and that it was what the donors received and he took it and said, “Oh yea I signed one of these in Sacramento,” I said,”I know I saw, but this one is for you to hang on your tree.” I really wasn’t looking at him as I was trying to get the certificates back in the bag but Robin and the others in the room said that he was really excited about the ornament once I told him that one was his, he kept turning it and looking at it saying “awwwww thanks that is so cool,” Ok security and camera man getting really irritated with Serena now got to wrap this up, Robin approached and gave him her gift and said a few words, I was sort of out of it by then, trying to remember if I had told him everything that I wanted to in the few short minutes that I had. The cameraman finally said ok look this way.haha, hint hint. I was on his left, Robin on his right. After the picture the security was already trying to move us out of the way so that the next two fans could go, I turned to him and said “You take care,” and he hugged me…awwwwww. David hugs are the BEST! Ok short and sweet yes but sooooooooo worth it. I saw Jeff standing off to the side and thought hey I am here might as well stop, security won’t mind even though by this time they were pointing the way out for us, I quickly told Jeff thanks and a little about the pay it forward and pointed to the gift bag where the certificates were, got a quick hug and left. WHEW!!!!!! I know the whole thing probably lasted about 5 minutes but it really felt like seconds….but the most important thing was that I was able to give David the certificates in person for you guys, he was very happy and appreciative and loved loved loved the ornament. Thank you to everyone who was a part of the project. I can’t begin to tell you how much it means to me that we were able to do this for such an amazing charity in honor of David. David fans are the most amazing, generous, caring, giving group of people I have ever met and because of all of you we will help grant a child’s wish in honor of David.

CALLING ALL SPORTS/DAVID FANS!! Great idea from a fan to help out an amazing charity!

This is a great idea from a fellow FOD chatter!!

Hey all! So most of you know me as rdsxfn1616 in the FOD chat, I’m the crazy sports guy that can never stop talking about the Red Sox and sports in general, and I talk about that Danny or Dave kid or whoever from time to time too lol jk. Anyway, I came up with this idea last night. I wanted to connect the things I’m a big fan of right now, which are David, college basketball, my school, and doing something positive. After much thinking, I came up with the following. Most of you probably know the charity that David’s for, the Invisible Children. This charity involves helping children in war-torn countries get an education and put them in “enhanced learning environments.” (http://www.invisiblechildren.com/home.php) So I came up with a donating “game” involving my college basketball team. For every 3-pointer the team makes, I will donate 10 cents to Invisible Children. For every game they win, I’ll donate $1. Should they make the NCAA “March Madness” tournament, I’ll donate $2 for every tournament win. And if they win the national championship, I’ll donate $20. I’ll add up the total, and donate the entire sum at the end of the season (the college basketball season ends April 6^th).

Now, you might be saying, could I do this as well? Well that’s my hope! All you have to do is pick a Division 1 NCAA basketball school (there’s a list here –

http://web1.ncaa.org/memberLinks/links.jsp)! I’ll compile all the 3-pointers and wins for your “school”, and I’ll tell you what your total is on a weekly basis. Even if your not a college basketball fan or sports fan at all, remember, this is to help the Invisible Children, and help David out as well, as I’m sure he would love the support for this charity from his fans. And I’ll do all the work for you. I could even pick a school for you if you want!

Now you may ask, how much will this cost me? Well, if you pick a good basketball school, I’d say they, on average, make about 8-10 3’s a game, which is about a dollar. This will start on Dec. 15, (the season already started in November but we can pick it up in the middle lol), so each team will have about 20-25 games left. So that would be 20-25 dollars based on 3’s, then add 1 dollar for each win, and 2 for each tournament win if they get that far. A good basketball team will probably mean a donation total of around 50-60 dollars in the end. If we can get a lot of people to contribute, we can hopefully get hundreds in total, maybe even a thousand?!! Lol

Okay, I’m rambling now haha, please if you commit to this, please do not back out and honestly donate, remember, this has little to do with college basketball and lots to do with David and the Invisible Children. David Toys for Tots Day!!

Hey guys…Monday December 1st is David Toys for Tots Day. We are asking all David fans to take a new or gently used toy to their local Toys for Tots and donate it in honor of David. Wouldn’t it be awesome if on that day they received more toy donations than on any other day. It’s time to put the power of the Angels in to full force!!

Just an update for everyone! The christmas ornaments did arrive to Serena, and she is in the process of packing ALL of them (by herself may i add) in their own boxes. She is going to be sending them out all this week and and next, and you WILL have your ornament on or around Dec 1st. Please be patient, you will receive yours VERY soon. I live in FL, and Serena is in TX so I can not help her with the physical part of this project! The certificate we’re printing out to give David will be posted around Monday. Make sure you take a look at the certificate, and let us know immediately if your name is not on their and you contributed. The official certificate from the charity can not be posted due to legalities we were informed of from that organization. However, we will still post the ‘unofficial’ certificate with all the names of those who contributed. When Serena has the honor to present this to David, i’m sure she’ll take pictures. We will continue to update you all about this!

Welcome to our site!

Hello everyone, this is Serena and welcome to the The Archie Pay it Forward Project. This all began several months ago with me having a simple idea after being inspired by David and his music to go out and volunteer and then share my experience with others. So one day a few months back I went to a local shelter here in my hometown and volunteered, I helped serve lunch and just sat and talked with some of the people there. It was a little overwhelming, there are so many people out there that don’t have anything, not even a hot meal. It reminded me so much of when David sang “Another Day In Paradise,” I spoke with the lady in charge and she told me that they have been short on volunteers this year and it has been difficult for them. That was it, the fire had been lit. I wanted to do something big. We have posted several times about this project and each time I am overwhelmed at the support and positive responses that I have received. It has grown into something even more amazing than I could have ever dreamed.

We all (including me) talk about what all David has done for us, inspired us, gave us hope, got us writing music, made us feel again, everything, and although we say it over and over how much it means to us I started thinking about how I could ever repay him. Well, I have been lucky enough to have been a part of some amazing projects and gifts involving David such as SU2C, helping out with group gifts, signing group thank yous’ and scrapbooks, and lets not forget the “David is My Hero,” book, that is really what did it for me, it took me a week to write my story but once I did it felt so amazing. But I still can’t help but feel that there is something more that we could do. I know how blessed I am now and yes a lot of it has to do with David and the message of hope and inspiration that so many of us feel through him and his music. I want to share that feeling with others, so I came up with the Archie Pay it Forward Project. Basically it is simple, David has helped all of us in one way or another by touching our lives in a positive way; so in return we should do the same.

Here you will find many different ways to pay it forward. We encourage you to share your stories, thoughts, ideas and suggestions. That is really what pay it forward is all about.
